Wildflower Maternity Photos In Florida | Ashley & Chad

When a mama-to-be comes to me with a clear vision for the maternity session of their dreams, I instantly get excited.  As a Southwest Florida photographer, I already know the potential for unique backgrounds this beautiful state has to offer, but I really enjoy getting to flex my creativity to bring a vision to life.  Ashley was completely open to the ideas I proposed to her, and I’m so glad she was!

Wildflower Florida Maternity

Ashley and Chad are expecting their second baby girl, and to celebrate her, Ashley knew she wanted to incorporate wildflowers into the session.  There was one problem: the nearest wildflower field was going to be a 1.5 hour drive.  This is where my creativity kicked in!  Since the drive wasn’t part of the game plan, we compromised without having to leave out the flowers altogether. I grabbed a few bouquets from Trader Joe’s and we made it happen!

Fort Myers Nature Preserve

We shot these photos at a preserve in North Fort Myers, FL. The real, untouched Florida landscape was exactly the natural look we were going for with Ashley’s wildflower maternity session. The area with the ferns reminds me of something straight out of Jurassic Park, but in the best way.  I usually start sessions out there about an hour to 30 minutes before golden hour starts. The sun that filters through the trees is magical and added such a glowy, ethereal effect to the gallery and paired brilliantly with the glowing expectant mama.

Florida Golden Hour

Speaking of glowing gold, as soon as I mentioned the possibility of using gold foil on her baby bump, Ashley was all in!  I like to incorporate one or two special details or unique touches in all of my sessions, and I love how the gold turned out.  A beautiful mother to be bathed in golden light that illuminates golden foil on her precious belly? Yes, please!   Even her husband, Chad, who normally doesn’t enjoy photos had a great time during our session.  Seeing the two of them together solidifies how loved baby girl will be once she makes her arrival.

Client Closet

Between preparing for a new baby and, in Ashley’s case, caring for other  children, my clients don’t need any additional tasks when it comes to their photos. In order to make our session as enjoyable and stress-free as possible, I offer my clients access to my client closet.  The dresses you see in the gallery are a couple of the pieces I have on hand.  This eliminates the need to shop around or invest more money in an outfit you likely won’t need to wear again.  Ashley chose two perfect pieces. Doesn’t she look stunning?! The goal of maternity sessions is always to make my clients feel beautiful as they’re growing new life, and Ashley made my job simple. Special thanks to this couple for choosing me to capture this chapter in their story. Congratulations! I can’t wait to meet your sweet baby girl in a few weeks for her newborn session!
